Three new people are being sought by the Cotswolds Conservation Board to help play an important role in managing the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The new members are being recruited as part of a national campaign by the Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and will be instrumental in helping to conserve and enhance the AONB, together with promoting a greater awareness and enjoyment of its special qualities.

The Board would be particularly interested to hear from people with an interest in sustainable tourism, health and wellbeing and from those with a commercial acumen. Applications are also particularly encouraged from people with disabilities, women, young people and members of ethnic minorities.

The appointments will commence from April 2015 and are initially for up to three years.

Nick Holliday from Stroud who has been a Secretary of State appointee to the Board since 2008, is keen to encourage people who are passionate about the Cotswolds to apply: “The Cotswolds AONB is one of the country’s most beautiful places and it is important that it stays that way. We know that the Cotswolds is good for both business and people, and provides many benefits for those who live, work and visit here. There is therefore a need to ensure that its future management reflects the needs of everyone and to make that happen, the Board is encouraging people from all backgrounds and with a range of skills to apply.”

The Board last year published the Cotswolds AONB Management Plan 2013-18 which sets out the future vision for the AONB and forms the basis of the work of the Board and its partners over the next five years. For more information: www.cotswoldsaonb.org.uk/managementplan

The closing date for receipt of applications is Thursday, October 30, 2014.
