Photographer and food writer Martin Griffiths savours this year's Flavours of Herefordshire.
The very best of the countys produce was on offer at Hereford Racecourse where independent producers demonstrated the exceptional diversity and quality of Herefordshire food and drink. The Aladdins cave of produce in the main hall was supplemented by stalls from Herefordshires farmers markets, events and demonstrations. Heart of England Fine Foods ran a series of highly informative shows in its own theatre while in the main tent saucy TV chef Gino DAcampo kept large crowds entertained with his culinary wizardry and stories of what inspired him to cook with his ethos of keep it simple, so you let the flavour of the food come out. The spectacular celebration dinner held at the racecourse to present this year's winners with their Flavours of Herefordshire awards was a chance for Herefordshire to celebrate the quality of its produce and the dedication and skills of those who work in the industry. It was also a welcome chance for the ladies to ditch their wellingtons and put on their party frocks. There were plenty of spectacular outfits and Gino certainly had a smile on his face as he awarded the prizes!
