Set in one of England's most spectacular areas of outstanding natural beauty, the pinnacles of its white Floral Marquee in dramatic contrast with the dark green backdrop of the Malvern Hills which tower above it, the Malvern Spring Gardening Show is almost certainly the most picturesque and spacious of all the Royal Horticultural Society shows.

From Premier Day on 8 May through to Sunday 11, the showground will be alight with glorious floral displays, new plant gems and a diverse collection of inspirational, unique and most importantly, achievable gardens - not to mention beautiful crafts, art and antiques, delicious home produce and a whole host of educational activities for young gardeners.

Malvern is a pioneering event - birthplace of the first truly interactive design theatre, the first student border competition, and new for this year, the first and only celebrity mentoring scholarship on the show circuit. It is also home to the country's largest floral art show, with its own theatre, and a huge amateur gardening section. The event is showcased on BBC 2's Gardeners' World and beamed to around 3 million viewers!

There are 19 Show Gardens for 2008 ranging from a sustainable rainwater harvesting garden with underground tanks, and a Japanese spring blossom garden to an outdoor classroom using bicycle wheels and scaffold poles and a fairytale garden complete with castle mural.

Sixteen designers will be going head to head in pursuit of the coveted Chris Beardshaw scholarship - a year's professional expertise, practical business experience and vocational education - live on stage in the brand new, highly visual and sensory Design For Living Theatre with celebrity guests.

Other new features this year include a special Taste of The Shires area, where producers from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and the surrounding shires, will be promoting the tastiest food and drink the region has to offer.

There's also a special dedicated herb display 'Tasty Buds, Lucious Leaves and Succulent Shoots' in the spectacular Royal Horticultural Society's Malvern Floral Marquee, housing Britain's top 100 nurseries, and taking centre stage again this year.

Other attractions include an Organic Gardening Village featuring edible planting and home to a brand new 'Forage Organically' garden, pottery workshops for little ones and lots of plant shopping opportunities for serious and occasional gardeners alike.
