Around ninety guests attended a ball at the Freedom Centre in Hereford to raise money for local charity, Heart for Africa. Guests enjoyed cocktails and canaps and a fine-dining meal with entertainment including a ten-piece jazz band and an acrobatic silk dance. Local people and businesses donated items that were auctioned at the ball, including holidays, a flight across Herefordshire in a light aircraft, and paintings and jewellery from around the county.

The 5,500 raised at the event will be put towards Heart for Africa's grassroots health, education and community projects in Uganda. Further information on Heart for Africa is available on the charity's website at www.heartforafrica.co.uk
