Red Kite Fostering, a new, independent fostering agency has opened in Kington.
Started by a highly qualified and experienced management team with a reputation in the private care sector and expertise in delivering quality foster placements, the agency expects to create over 30 full time jobs in the next 18 months.
The opening ceremony, held at the Kington office, welcomed more than 50 professionals from a wide range of specialities including psychotherapists, social workers, teachers and nurses. Potential foster carers met the Red Kite team and shared a glass of bubbly and a buffet while discussing the agencies plans for fostering in the county.
Joyce Brand officiated over the ceremony, cutting the ceremonial
red ribbon and congratulating those assembled for their hard work
Over the past six months a series of setbacks, including the office flooding, the upstairs catching fire, a lorry crashing into the scaffolding on the front of the building and bad weather, hampered those working hard behind the scenes to get the show on the road and delayed the opening date.
Now the team Red Kite team, led by Carole Barnes and Tony Collier, is recruiting foster carers to provide safe and loving homes for children in local authority care in Herefordshire and the surrounding counties.
People interested in finding out about fostering are welcome to meet the team on Fridays when they can drop in for coffee and informal chat.
