Looking good this Christmas doesn't have to take hours or cost a lot of money - new writer Kim is on hand with four products all under £7.
Hello and welcome to my first article for Herefordshire & Wye Valley Life.
My name’s Kim and in this article I will be bringing to you some hints and tips on how to apply a quick five minute makeover from a few products that I currently use within my own beauty salon.
First of all a bit about me. I am a Senior member of B.A.B.T.A.C. (British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology) and I have worked as a Beauty Therapist for over twenty five years.
The four products I have chosen will help you achieve a complete makeover for under £15.00. All of the products can be obtained from a number of suppliers but I obtain mine through Fragrance Direct as I have always found their prices to be competitive with quick delivery.
Bourjois Une Mineral Make-up (£2.99)
Mineral Powder make-up is very useful for a more natural appearance. It can be used alone or over liquid make-up. You will find it creates no uneven tide marks often associated with liquid or cream foundation. It is best to apply this powder with a soft large make-up brush and work in quick circular motions taking the brush over your face, neck, eyes and brow bone. The Bourjois Une mineral make-up is available in a variety of shades.
Calvin Klein Bronzer (£2.99)
Apply the powder bronzer to your cheeks, chin, nose, eyelids and brow bone, with a medium sized make-up brush when applying the bronzer use sweeping movements. You can also apply the bronzer to your throat, shoulders and chest bone area. The bronzer leaves the palette easily so tap the brush on your wrist before application to remove any excess powder. I have found with this bronzer that it has a lovely aroma which reminds me of chocolate all be it without the calories! This product is also available in a variety of different shades.
Elizabeth Arden Double Density Mascara (£6.99)
This mascara achieves maximum volume, is smudge proof and thickens your eye lashes without awful clumping, and gives me that wide awake feeling as soon as I apply it. Apply to the top lashes first, wait a moment for it to dry, then turn the brush in a vertical manner and apply to the corners of the eyelashes and to the bottom of your eyelashes. I also find this mascara is easy to remove so make sure you don’t forget to remove it at night. Elizabeth Arden is a very old and Established Make-up house which is quite reassuring, especially when applying make-up to your eyes.
Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Lipstick (£1.99)
This is a lovely lipstick and is available in a wide range of interesting colours. Winter is a time when fragile lip skin can become dry and cracked. My top tip to keep your lips hydrated is just choose a neutral lip colour and use several times a day as and when required - by doing this you should find that you your lips will keep nice and moisturised. ‘Rose rush’ is a lovely Christmas colour and sits very well with pale English Rose complexions. Who knows, soft lips may even inspire that special someone to plant you a kiss underneath the mistletoe! If time wasn’t an issue I could advise using a lip brush when applying lipstick for a more polished look, but for a five minute make-over just run the lipstick over both lips blot dry with a tissue.
I hope you have enjoyed my first article and if you have any questions or comments then please feel free to post them here.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
