Shape up to summer with swimwear to suit every age, body shape and holiday destination

Holidaying in good old Blighty or heading for somewhere exotic?

Either way youll want to know about the seasons new looks for swimwear.
Whats hot and whats not on the swimsuit front is equally as important whether youre off to Tenerife, Torquay or simply sunbathing in your own garden.

The latest designs in bikinis, one-piece suits, tankinis and the It Girl look of the moment swimsuits and bikinis with daring cut-outs are packing the shops right now, so theres plenty of choice.

As well as a riot of colour and prints, this summers swimwear collections have the classic monochrome designs together with pastels and neutral and nude tones to follow trends on the fashion catwalks.

Patterns vary from ditsy florals through to big orchids, graphic designs to animal prints, and lots of spotty polka dots, another beachwear favourite. From a design angle, there are one-shoulder swimsuits, styles with asymmetrical shapes, bras and briefs with frills, and one-piece suits with plunging V-necklines.

And for those who are slightly conscious of certain body areas and wouldnt dream of wearing cut-out swimwear, fear not. The answer is to slip on one of those wonderful ten pounds lighter in ten seconds Miraclesuits for an instant confidence and figure booster. The designs are sexy and just get better each season.

According to swimwear expert Jenny Hunter, one-piece swimsuits are becoming more popular.

Our new collection has taken inspiration from the Imagineer trend which is a retro vision of the future, says Jenny, the PR and marketing executive with swimwear and lingerie manufacturer Eveden, whose brands include Fantasie, Freya and Fauve.

Metallic neutrals and jewel brights are used to contrast with graphic 1960s prints and images to help build on the idea of a jet set lifestyle. One-pieces are becoming more popular and they have a strong presence this summer. They also have a retro twist with cut-out swimsuits and one-piece bandeau suits being favourites in the collection.

Sporty styles such as soft triangle bikinis and bandeau bikinis are hot for the beach and a brilliant way to use your swimwear wardrobe with mix and match styles. The bandeau bikini style is great for sun worshippers as it minimises tan lines. One of the seasons trends among celebrities is big swimwear briefs, worn to hide any tummy problem areas.

Prints are proving extremely popular too in the run-up to the main holiday season, says Jenny. Prints can be used to slim a figure and also draw attention to your best assets, she explains. One of our swimsuits features monochrome panels which create the illusion of a slimmer figure. Printed briefs matched with a plain biking top can draw attention away from larger busts where as printed tops can take attention away from a pear shape.

Tribal prints are a top trend, says Jenny, along with floral and animal patterns. For example, the Freya collection has a mixed animal print with a neon pink background colour to create a flamboyant bikini reflecting the brand.

Designers are adding more and more cover-up pieces and accessories to swimwear collections to take the wearer from day to night and from the beach to the bar. So look out for co-ordinating or contrasting maxi kaftans, beach dresses, mini frocks, pareos and wraps to complete the summer image.
